Thanks Bob!

In a move that I'm sure will have the Dear Leader throwing one of his infamous tantrums, the RMT has go on strike the week after Easter... or about the time when idle speculation has it that Gordy is planning on taking a trip up the Mall.

Thankfully the militant stupidity of Bob Crow and his union will not affect me very much as I have the ability to work remotely from home. What it will however do is the following:

  • Cause me to leave my work PC on over the Easter weekend and thus consuming 108 more hours of electricity then it would have otherwise done although I suppose this may be offset by the saving my train company will undoubtably make.
  • See me getting a small refund from my train company - which when replicated across the line will no doubt wipe out any aforementioned savings.
  • Ensure that I reorganise or cancel anything I had planned for that week which involves a train journey.

Inconvenient? Certainly. Annoying? Very! It won't though stop me doing my job or make me feel anything other than intensely irritated by their actions.

It would seem that my line isn't going to be as heavily affected as it could be with what appears to be a normal service running between 0700 and 1900. Bad news for me in that it means I will be traipsing into London but good news because I'm going to have to work to rule to ensure I get home before the line shuts down for three hours.

Four days of getting home at a reasonable hour? Perhaps I might have something to thank Bob for after all.

Fancy joining in?
